Dynamik started as an electrical contractor and became the rest because clients kept asking. The fire alarm needed moving when the board was upgraded; the data cabinet was in the way of the new distribution; the access control had to release on the fire signal and nobody owned that interface. Doing those jobs ourselves was quicker and better than coordinating four firms, so we trained for them, bought the test equipment and made them part of what we offer.

What we do, and what we do not

We design, install, test, certify and maintain six systems: electrical installations, fire alarms, emergency lighting, networking and structured cabling, access control and CCTV. The work is commercial. We do not take individual domestic jobs, and we say so on the phone rather than quoting badly for something we are not set up for.

How we quote

From a visit, in writing, with the standard named and the equipment named. A quotation that says "fire alarm system" is not a quotation; one that says "L2 system to BS 5839-1, C-TEC addressable panel, 34 devices as drawn, commissioned and certificated" is something you can compare and hold us to. The visit is free and there is no obligation.

How we work on site

Around the building's hours. Power-off work is done in the evening or at the weekend. In a clinic we finish a surgery before the next list; in a kitchen we are out before service; in a warehouse we work around the shift. Containment is tidy, circuits are labelled, and the floor is swept before we leave.

What you get at the end

One handover file: as-installed drawings, test results, the certificates for each system and the dates the next tests fall due. Then we keep those dates and write to you before each one, so the six-monthly fire alarm service and the annual emergency lighting test happen without anyone having to remember them.

The standards we work to

• BS 7671, the IET Wiring Regulations, for every electrical installation.
• BS 5839-1 for fire detection and alarm systems in non-domestic premises, and BS 5839-6 in the residential parts of mixed buildings.
• BS 5266-1 and BS EN 1838 for emergency lighting.
• BS EN 50173 and BS EN 50174 for structured cabling.
• BS EN 60839-11 for access control, and BS EN 62676 for CCTV.
• The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 and the UK GDPR, which set what a building's owner is responsible for and which our designs are written to satisfy.

The equipment

We install Hager distribution equipment, C-TEC fire alarm panels and devices, Aico alarms in flats and HMOs, and Hikvision cameras and recorders on most of our work, because they are reliable, well supported in the UK and priced sensibly. We are a Hikvision Authorised Partner and an Aico Expert Installer; for the rest we are an installer, not a dealership. Where a building or a client calls for something else, we fit something else.
