The Dudley borough runs from Sedgley in the north to Stourbridge and Halesowen in the south, with Brierley Hill and the Merry Hill estate in the middle, and it is half an hour from our base down the A456 or the A4123. The work there is retail parks and trade counters, workshops and small factories in the old industrial streets of Lye, Cradley Heath and Netherton, converted mills and warehouses, high streets of practices and takeaways, and a good deal of older housing let as flats and HMOs.

Older buildings
A lot of the borough's commercial stock is Victorian or inter-war, and a lot of it has been rewired piecemeal over decades. The honest first step is an EICR that tells the owner what they have, with the codes explained in plain words and the remedial work priced item by item. From there the building can be brought up to standard in the order that matters: the dangerous items first, then the ones that would fail an insurance inspection, then the improvements. We would rather do that in stages a business can afford than quote a rewire nobody will order.
Merry Hill, Waterfront and the retail parks
Retail units change hands and change use often, and each change means a fit-out to the landlord's specification, done to a tight programme before the opening date, with the certificates ready for the landlord's agent at handover. We know that routine and we keep to it.
