Harpenden is a Hertfordshire town of professional practices, restaurants, independent shops and offices on and around a long High Street, with Redbourn, Wheathampstead and the villages between it and St Albans around it. The clients there expect a tidy job, a clear quotation and no mess, which is how we work anyway. It is the southern part of our M1 patch, reached from junction 9 or 10, and we are there most weeks.
What we do in Harpenden
- Electrical installations for dental and medical practices, offices, restaurants and shops, and EICRs for managed buildings and let property.
- Fire alarms for practices, restaurants, offices and flats above shops.
- Emergency lighting that does not spoil a dining room: maintained fittings and signage chosen for the space.
- Networking and Wi-Fi for practices and offices, including the imaging and practice management networks a clinic depends on.
- Access control and video door entry for practices and offices.
- CCTV for shops, restaurants and car parks, installed with the ICO guidance in mind.
Practices on the High Street
Harpenden has an unusual number of dental, medical, physiotherapy and aesthetic practices, many in converted houses and shop units. The work is surgery refits, X-ray room wiring, decontamination rooms, fire and emergency lighting to the regulator's expectations and the EICR, planned around appointment lists and finished without dust in a treatment room. See healthcare and dental.
Restaurants and offices
Restaurant work is done in the mornings and the kitchen handed back before prep; office refurbishments are done out of hours where they are noisy. Both are handed over with the certificates and kept on a maintenance schedule afterwards.
